I am a licensed clinical mental health counselor in the state of North Carolina. I have been working in the mental health field since 2013, where I have gained experience working in inpatient psychiatric hospitals and community mental health. My experience working with children 4 (+), teens and adults has allowed me opportunities to work with those in immediate crisis, who have experienced trauma, depression, anxiety, boundary issues and mood disorders. I also have experience working with children and their families who are dealing with behavioral issues, emotion dysregulation and neurodivergent struggles. In addition to my experience, I have a graduate certificate in Play Therapy from Capella University, and I have training in EMDR.
I believe each client is an individual, created by a loving God, with individual needs and responses. With respect to your unique beliefs, temperament, learning style, strengths, and cultural history, I use an eclectic approach including Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy, EMDR (trauma focused) and play therapy. Play therapy is the medium for expressing feelings and exploring relationships for children. I believe in a partnership between client and therapist where we collaborate to reach the client’s goals.
